Solar PV and Energy Storage at UH Community College Campuses – KCC, HCC, WCC, LCC, UHMC

Project Description

Johnson Controls, Inc. worked with the University of Hawai‘i to install and implement various energy savings measures, solar photovoltaic systems, and distributed energy storage systems at Honolulu Community College (HCC), Leeward Community College (LCC), Windward Community College (WCC), and Kapi‘olani Community College (KCC) on O‘ahu and at the University of Hawai‘i Maui College (UHMC) campus. Energy savings measures include retrofitting existing facilities, replacing electric transformers, upgrading HVAC systems, and upgrading chilled water systems. Solar photovoltaic panels will be installed on new carports and on ground-mounted structures in conjunction with new distributed energy storage systems. Munekiyo Hiraga’s work encompassed environmental review and land use permit requirements for the five (5) campuses.
