Shane was born and raised on Maui and graduated from Baldwin High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Oregon State University. Unsure of a specific career path, Shane gained experience across a variety of industries, including retail, hospitality, vocational training, finance, and energy. His time in the energy industry sparked a passion in environmental and energy conservation, renewable energy, and sustainable development. This led him to earn his Masters of Science degree in Energy, Policy, and Climate from Johns Hopkins University.
Prior to joining Munekiyo Hiraga, Shane managed an energy efficiency program for an electric utility in Las Vegas, Nevada and contributed to the development of various utility-scale renewable energy and infrastructure projects throughout the United States. He is excited to bring his diverse background and passion for sustainable development back home to Maui.
When he’s not working, you’ll usually find Shane spending time with his wife and daughter or enjoying the outdoors. He loves being in the ocean and is looking forward to getting back into wave photography, surfing, and Stand Up Paddleboarding now that he’s back home on Maui. He also practiced jiu-jitsu for several years and hopes to get back on the mats soon. When he is not in the water, Shane enjoys hiking and is hoping to take up bow hunting.
