    Colleen Suyama, Senior Associate

    A native of Maui, Colleen attended the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Urban and Regional Design from the School of Architecture. Prior to joining the company in 2008, she spent more than 32 years working in various planning and administrative positions at the County of Maui Planning Department before retiring as Deputy Planning Director.

    Colleen brings a wealth of experience in the fields of general planning, land use, permitting, enforcement, legislation, and government administration. She has participated in many commissions, boards, committees, the Maui County Council, and government agencies as a planner and administrator. Currently, she serves as Secretary on the USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Tri-Isle Resource Conservation & Development Council of Hawai’i, Inc. and also on the Kahului Hongwanji Mission Board of Directors.

    Colleen is active in her church, the Kahului Hongwanji Mission, serving on their Building Committee and with the Buddhist Women Association. The rest of the time is spent on family activities with her husband and daughter.

    Something you didn’t know:
    Colleen is an avid reader and enjoys going to the movies. She also loves traveling — especially to Las Vegas each year.
